About Cold and Flu
Colds, flu, covid and other respiratory tract infections (RTI) are common, especially in winter months. These infections can affect your nose, sinuses, throat and voice box, and symptoms can include a sore throat, cough, runny nose, nasal congestion, headache, facial pressure, and fever. The majority of RTIs are infections caused by a virus and will resolve on their own with supportive care, treatments for symptomatic relief and rest. However, a small amount of RTIs are infections caused by bacteria and may require treatment with antibiotics. In some people (especially children) with RTIs, steroids or inhalers may be required.
