Meet Our Team

John Ko
Medical Director
John provides clinical leadership across WeCare, guiding the development of innovative, patient-focused care models and ensuring consistent, high-quality care across our network. As a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (FRNZCGP), he brings deep clinical insight and experience spanning both hospital and primary care.
John is passionate about advancing accessible, responsive healthcare through collaboration, innovation, and a values-led approach.

Brian Ko
Managing Director
Brian leads WeCare as Managing Director, combining medical expertise and strategic leadership to transform how primary care is delivered in Aotearoa. Brian has been instrumental in developing WeCare’s innovative care models, including CareNow, MedDirect, and our 7-day health hubs.
Brian is passionate about building high-performing teams and creating systems that make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and patient-focused.

Kadie Watts
Executive Director – Strategy & Business Development
Kadie leads strategy and business development at WeCare, driving new ventures, services, and systems that advance our vision of accessible, patient-focused healthcare. With a background in primary care nursing and extensive leadership experience, she brings a deep understanding of frontline care to strategy and innovation.
Kadie is passionate about reshaping primary healthcare through smart system design, team-based care models, and technology that improves access and long-term sustainability.

Stacey Gilbert
Business Support & Practice Liaison Manager
Stacey supports WeCare’s clinic network to deliver consistent, high-quality care through clear systems, communication, and quality improvement. She leads compliance and quality initiatives, helping practices align on standards and efficiency.
With a background in nursing and management, Stacey focuses on collaboration and innovation to strengthen care across WeCare’s network.

Ioana Florea
Business Hub & Finance Manager
Ioana leads WeCare’s Business Support Office, comprising the WeCare call centre, administration, and finance functions that support our clinics each day. With extensive experience across primary care, from reception and administration through to management, she brings strong operational knowledge and a practical understanding of frontline needs.
Ioana focuses on building efficient systems and sustainable processes that enable accessible, high-quality care.

Michelle Thomas
People and Culture Manager
Michelle leads recruitment and human resources at WeCare, drawing on experience across government and private sectors in talent acquisition, HR administration, and office management.
She’s passionate about building a positive workplace culture, supporting staff growth, and hiring people who share WeCare’s mission to make healthcare fast, accessible, and affordable.

Nurse Prescribers
Our Nurse Prescribers are advanced clinicians who can assess, diagnose, treat and prescribe for many common health concerns. Where needed, our Nurse Prescribers can draw on the guidance of our clinical directors to resolve your concerns.
Nurses
Our Registered and Enrolled Nurses assess and treat a range of CareNow common conditions and provide nursing services such as vaccinations. They work closely with our advanced clinicians to provide safe, effective, and supportive care.
Clinical Support
Our Medical and Healthcare Assistants support your care behind the scenes and in our clinics, helping with routine clinical tasks and virtual care under the supervision of clinicians.
