Ear infections are a very common condition, especially in children. They are caused by bacteria or viruses and can affect the outer or middle part of the ear. Ear infections may cause swelling, pain, fever, discharge. hearing changes and sometimes a build-up of fluids in the ear. Some infections will easily go away on their own, others may need some treatment or symptom relief.
