Important information about Manage My Health (MMH) - 07/01/26
Manage My Health (MMH) has provided a significant amount of value to both WeCare and our patients over the past 10 years. For that reason, we are deeply upset and disappointed by the recent cybersecurity incident involving their platform.
We are sharing the information below to keep our patients fully informed.
What information was accessed
Based on information provided by Manage My Health and communicated to GP practices, the unauthorised access was limited to a specific document storage area within MMH known as Health Documents.
The information accessed consisted of:
- Hospital discharge summaries from Northland Hospital
- Some specialist referral letters dated between 2017 and 2019
- Documents that patients themselves uploaded into the “My Documents” section of Manage My Health
No other categories of information have been identified as being accessed.
Who may be affected
We have been advised today that 169 current and former WeCare patients may have had documents stored within this affected area. This equates to around 0.5% of WeCare patients who may have been affected.
At this stage, we have no further detail about which specific documents relate to individual patients.
Manage My Health has advised that they will begin contacting affected patients from tomorrow through to early next week with further information.
What was NOT accessed
This incident did not involve WeCare’s clinical systems.
Your consultation notes, prescriptions, test results, and communications with WeCare clinicians are stored within our own clinical systems and were not accessed as part of this incident.
Current situation
There has been some positive news that the material accessed during the incident has reportedly been removed by the hacker. We sincerely hope this will contain the situation. However, given the nature of cyber incidents, we remain cautious and acknowledge that circumstances may change as investigations continue.
Support for our patients
We understand how concerning this situation may be. Please know that WeCare is here to support any patient affected, and we will continue to monitor updates closely and provide further information if required.
Ngā mihi,
WeCare Team
